Wiring Discrete PLC Inputs

We will show the wiring of a contact (Discrete) input into a PLC. The PLC is a Omron CP1H. We will utilize the built in 24VDC power supply and wire it directly into the inputs of the PLC. The discrete input is looking for voltage between the input and the common point for the input. Here is a link for additional information on the Omron CP1H PLC.

Wiring a three wire DC sensor is a matter of determining what kind of output that you have. The two types are NPN and PNP.
NPN is referred to sinking the load or negative switching.
