BRX Do-More PLC First Order Filter The First Order Filter (FILTER) instruction performs a continuous filtering operation on the input value. This operation applies 63.2% of the difference between the In value and the Out value to the Out value over the duration of the Time Constant. In this programming example, we are using a time constant of 1.5 seconds. We will mimic the analog input signal with noise. You will notice that the output will not jump all over. Filters are used to dampen or slow down the changes to the In value to produce a more linear Out value. Since the filter instruction uses a real output, we are using the rounding operation in the math instruction to show the nearest whole number.
